The Wyoming State Fair & Rodeo is an annual agricultural and Western-lifestyle festival held at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas. Dating to 1905, it brings together livestock competition, rodeo, youth programs, exhibits, entertainment, carnival attractions, and fair traditions in a statewide celebration of Wyoming culture.

Agriculture at its core

Agriculture is more than a theme here: it is the fair’s historical foundation. Livestock and crop exhibits showcase Wyoming’s farming and ranching communities, while 4-H and FFA competitions give young exhibitors a major statewide stage; the fair’s master plan describes it as Wyoming’s largest youth competition.

Rodeo and Western traditions

The rodeo program is one of the festival’s defining attractions, alongside the carnival, live entertainment, vendors, fair food, and community events. The 2026 grandstand schedule included Ranch Rodeo, breakaway roping, two nights of PRCA rodeo, and a demolition derby, illustrating the mix of working-ranch traditions and spectator entertainment.

More than a century in Douglas

The fair began in 1905 in Douglas and has remained closely tied to the community and Wyoming’s agricultural heritage. Its historic fairgrounds cover about 118 acres and include structures ranging from the 1913 Agriculture Hall to modern livestock facilities, making the grounds themselves part of the institution’s long history.

What the festival feels like

The experience combines a traditional state fair with a particularly strong Cowboy State identity: livestock barns and judging, Western competition, midway rides, music, food, vendors, and educational exhibits all share the program. A longstanding downtown Douglas parade adds a community dimension beyond the fairgrounds.
