The International Wildlife Film Festival (IWFF) celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027. Founded in 1977, IWFF is recognised as the world’s longest-running wildlife film festival. The milestone edition brings together filmmakers, wildlife experts, scientists, conservationists and audiences to celebrate the natural world through documentary cinema.
The festival showcases films exploring wildlife, natural habitats, biodiversity, conservation and the relationship between people and nature. Its juried film competition recognises ethical filmmaking, scientific accuracy and technical excellence.
Screenings take place at the historic Roxy Theater in Missoula. The festival also provides opportunities for audiences to interact with filmmakers through question-and-answer sessions, panel discussions and special programmes. Additional anniversary activities and excursions are planned as part of the celebration.
A virtual festival is also scheduled for April 24–30, 2027, allowing audiences to watch selected films online after the in-person festival.
The 50th anniversary edition offers a special opportunity for the community and international visitors to celebrate five decades of wildlife storytelling and conservation filmmaking.
