The 38th Annual Winnemucca Ranch Hand Rodeo Weekend is a six-day Western heritage and sporting event celebrating ranching traditions and the skills of working cowboys and cowgirls. Held in Winnemucca, Nevada, the event brings together ranch teams, horse enthusiasts, competitors and visitors from across the western United States.
The main rodeo competition features approximately 30 teams competing in traditional ranch events, including steer stopping, wild mugging, trailer loading, team roping, ranch doctoring and team branding. These competitions demonstrate the practical skills, teamwork and horsemanship required in everyday ranch work.
The weekend also includes the Winnemucca Cow Dog Trial on February 24–25, where trained working dogs and their handlers demonstrate their ability to move cattle through timed obstacle courses.
Additional highlights include the Winnemucca Ranch, Rope and Performance Horse Sale on February 27, featuring selected ranch, roping and performance horses. Visitors can enjoy rodeo competitions, horse activities, livestock-related demonstrations and Western community celebrations throughout the event.
The gathering provides an opportunity to experience Nevada’s ranching heritage and support the region’s agricultural community.
