New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2027
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival—usually called Jazz Fest—is a major music and Louisiana-culture festival held at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. The 2027 edition runs across two long weekends, combining a huge range of live music with Louisiana food, crafts, cultural traditions, and parades.
Dates and setting
Jazz Fest 2027 is scheduled for April 22–25 and April 29–May 2, 2027, at the Fair Grounds Race Course, 1751 Gentilly Boulevard. Festival hours are currently listed as 11 a.m.–7 p.m., with last admission at 6:30 p.m.; the Fair Grounds is roughly two miles from the French Quarter.
More than jazz
Despite the name, Jazz Fest is deliberately broad: jazz, blues, R&B, gospel, Cajun, zydeco, Afro-Caribbean, Latin, rock, rap, country, folk, and bluegrass all form part of its musical identity. The wider Heritage Fair adds Louisiana cooking and regional crafts, making the festival as much a celebration of New Orleans and Louisiana culture as a conventional concert festival.
2027 lineup and tickets
As of November 4, 2026, the 2027 artist lineup has not yet been announced, and tickets are not currently on sale. Organizers say tickets will become available alongside the talent announcement in the coming months; the detailed day-by-day stage schedule—the famous Jazz Fest “cubes”—normally appears about a month before the festival.
What makes it distinctive
Jazz Fest puts major touring acts alongside an unusually deep representation of Louisiana musicians and traditions; organizers state that roughly 85–90% of bands presented are active members of Louisiana’s music community. That local foundation, paired with multiple stages, gospel and traditional music, brass bands, food, crafts, and community traditions, gives the event a cultural scope that differs substantially from a typical large music festival.
