SoWa Christmas Market
The SoWa Christmas Market is a large indoor holiday shopping market held at the historic SoWa Power Station in Boston’s South End. The 11th annual edition runs November 20–December 27, 2026, bringing together more than 100 regional makers, artists, designers, and specialty-food vendors.
What to expect
The emphasis is on independent and locally made goods rather than conventional retail: handcrafted jewelry, artwork, apparel and accessories, candles, bath products, specialty foods, and unusual holiday gifts. Seasonal food and drinks complement the shopping, while scheduled entertainment includes local musicians and special Country Nights with line dancing.
Dates, hours, and admission
The market opens Friday, November 20, from 4–9 PM. Through November, regular hours are Tuesday–Thursday 4–8 PM, Friday 4–9 PM, Saturday 10 AM–9 PM, and Sunday 10 AM–7 PM; from December 1, Tuesday–Thursday extends to 9 PM, Friday to 10 PM, and Saturday to 10 PM. It is closed Mondays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. Admission is $10, with children 12 and under free, and re-entry is not permitted.
The setting
The market takes place at SoWa Power Station, 550 Harrison Avenue, an 1891 industrial building that has been restored as a major event space. Its enormous open interior makes the event notably different from Boston’s outdoor Christmas markets: shoppers remain indoors while the industrial hall is transformed with extensive holiday lighting and decorations.
Beyond shopping
The 2026 program adds live entertainment, workshops, tastings, and family-oriented appearances alongside the vendor stalls. Santa is scheduled for multiple dates from opening night through December 22, while the Grinch makes several appearances; the surrounding SoWa Art + Design District also contains artist studios, galleries, design showrooms, and shops that can be combined with a market visit.
