Fierce Females: Women in Art is an educational cultural programme presented by New Hampshire Humanities and featuring presenter Jane Oneail. The programme explores the history and contributions of women artists, examining how the representation of women in art has changed as women became creators rather than simply subjects of artistic works.

The presentation introduces audiences to influential women artists from the Renaissance through the twentieth century, highlighting their lives, careers, creative achievements and contributions to the international art world.

Featured artists include Artemisia Gentileschi, Mary Cassatt and Frida Kahlo. Through their artworks and personal histories, participants will discover how these artists challenged traditional expectations, developed distinctive artistic styles and influenced generations of artists.

The programme offers an opportunity for community members, art enthusiasts, students and lifelong learners to explore women’s achievements in visual arts and understand their lasting influence on art history.

The event is hosted by Friends of the Pembroke Town Library in collaboration with New Hampshire Humanities.
