Grand Rapids Christkindl Markt 2026
Grand Rapids Christkindl Markt is a European-inspired outdoor Christmas market held at Grand Rapids Downtown Market in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The fourth annual market runs November 18–December 24, 2026, transforming the site into a Christmas village with 60+ artisan food and gift vendors, seasonal entertainment, drinks, and family activities.
The experience
The Markt is modeled on traditional European Christmas markets, with wooden vendor stalls, festive lighting, communal gathering spaces, and a German-style beverage hall. Visitors can shop handmade goods and ornaments, eat foods such as raclette, bratwurst, sauerkraut and Bavarian pretzels, and drink Glühwein, hot cocoa, cider and other seasonal beverages.
Dates and hours
The regular schedule is Wednesday 11 a.m.–8 p.m.; Thursday–Friday 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays are normally closed. Exceptions include Nov. 25 (10 a.m.–5 p.m.), Thanksgiving (closed), Dec. 21–23 (11 a.m.–9 p.m.), and Christmas Eve (10 a.m.–3 p.m.). Admission is listed as free.
More than shopping
The market also features outdoor curling, private Alpenglobes, children’s activities and live holiday entertainment, making it more of a seasonal destination than simply a craft market. Commemorative drinkware is a tradition here, and the 2026 edition introduces four new glassware pieces; glasses from current or previous years can be brought back for discounted refills during the season.
Scale and setting
The event began in 2023 and has grown quickly; organizers describe it as West Michigan’s largest traditional European Christmas village. More than 247,000 visitors from 49 states attended in 2025, while the 2026 edition is planned for 28 operating days and 60+ vendor booths.
Getting there
The market is at 435 Ionia Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. On-site parking is extremely limited during the event and is listed at $25 Wednesday–Sunday; the McConnell Lot directly across Ionia Avenue is listed at $15, with metered streets and several downtown ramps providing alternatives.
