Evergy Festival of Lights 2026–2027
Evergy Festival of Lights is a seasonal nighttime light festival at Powell Gardens, Kansas City’s Botanical Garden in Kingsville, Missouri. The 2026–2027 edition runs on select evenings from November 19, 2026, through January 3, 2027, transforming the botanical garden’s landscapes and architecture into an outdoor holiday walk.
Dates and hours
The festival operates 5–10 p.m. on November 19–22 and 27–29; December 3–5, 10–12, 18–23, and 26–29; and January 2–3. Powell Gardens recommends advance tickets, particularly for popular nights; the garden is closed on Thanksgiving Eve and Day, Christmas Eve and Day, and New Year’s Eve and Day.
The lighted walk
This is primarily an outdoor walking experience, rather than a drive-through display. The illuminated route incorporates Powell Gardens’ landscape and architecture, including the Marjorie Powell Allen Chapel and Marlese Lowe Gourley Island Garden; the Missouri Barn provides fire pits overlooking the Villandry Garden, while the Silo offers an elevated view across the illuminated grounds.
Holiday extras
Beyond the lights, scheduled programming includes Santa’s Workshop, select Chapel concerts, holiday workshops and special food-and-drink experiences. Seasonal stops around the grounds offer hot chocolate, cider, coffee, snacks and other refreshments, while the Marketplace carries locally made gifts and Powell Gardens-grown poinsettias.
Planning the evening
The festival runs snow or shine, so warm layers, gloves and comfortable walking shoes are useful. Powell Gardens specifically recommends purchasing tickets ahead; its 2026 guide also highlights quieter midweek evenings for visitors seeking more room along the paths and shorter waits at features such as the Silo. The venue is at 1609 NW US Hwy 50, Kingsville, Missouri 64061.
