SUMMARY:Eat to Treat: Utilizing Our Food Networks to Support and Improve He
 alth in Rural Arizona
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEat to Treat: Utili
zing Our Food Networks to Support and Improve Health in Rural Arizona\n“
Eat to Treat” is a University of Arizona Center for Rural Health webinar
scheduled for January 21\, 2027\, from noon–1 p.m. It focuses on culina
ry medicine\, nutrition education\, and the community partnerships that ca
n strengthen health and workforce development in rural Arizona.\nWhat the
 webinar covers\nThe session connects food\, health\, education\, and rural
workforce development rather than treating nutrition solely as individual
behavior. Its three stated learning objectives are to explain training fu
ture practitioners in community-based culinary medicine\, discuss building
community/clinical/academic stakeholder networks\, and show how student e
xperiential learning and nutrition projects can have greater impact.\nPres
 enters\nLily Y. McNair\, PSM\, RDN\, CCMS\, FAND\, is the SALUDABLES Coord
inator and adjunct faculty member at Arizona Western College\, with work e
mphasizing nutrition and health-career opportunities in rural and border c
ommunities. Ashlee Linares-Gaffer\, EdD\, RDN\, FAND\, is an Associate Pro
fessor of Practice in the University of Arizona School of Nutritional Scie
nces and Wellness whose teaching includes career preparation\, leadership\
, and agricultural and food literacy for future health professionals.\nWhy
the rural focus matters\nA distinctive feature is its emphasis on network
 s: colleges and universities\, health-care settings\, schools\, Tribal Nat
ions\, and other community partners can collectively support nutrition edu
cation and rural health. The webinar also treats students' hands-on commun
ity work as a way to simultaneously develop the future health workforce an
 d deliver community-responsive nutrition initiatives.\nPart of a broader s
eries\nThe event belongs to the Arizona Center for Rural Health Webinar Se
ries\, which provides technical assistance and shares research\, policy up
dates\, best practices\, and other rural-health information with stakehold
ers across Arizona. That context makes “Eat to Treat” particularly rel
evant to public-health practitioners\, dietitians and nutrition educators\
, educators training future health professionals\, and organizations devel
oping community-based food and health partnerships.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\
