SUMMARY:IDSC Day 2027 – Digital Twins
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIDSC Day 2027 – D
igital Twins\nIDSC Day 2027 is the University of Miami Frost Institute for
Data Science and Computing’s fourth annual interdisciplinary research e
vent\, scheduled for January 22\, 2027\, in Coral Gables. Its theme\, Digi
tal Twins\, examines how increasingly sophisticated computational models c
an help researchers understand\, predict\, and potentially change complex
real-world systems.\nWhat “Digital Twins” means here\nThe program take
s a deliberately broad view of digital twinning\, extending from cities\,
ecosystems\, hospitals\, and industries to individual animal cells. Rather
than concentrating only on simulation technology\, the event asks what th
ese models can reliably predict\, how they influence decisions\, and who d
etermines what gets modeled and trusted.\nKeynote speakers\nThe two announ
ced keynotes bring notably different perspectives on the theme. Carolina C
 ruz-Neira VR Pioneer\, Eric W. Shamlin AI &amp\; Media.\nProgram and parti
cipation\nThe day combines keynotes\, IDSC Fellow lightning talks\, a pane
 l discussion\, posters\, live demos\, and a networking reception. The curr
ent University of Miami listing runs from registration at 9:00 a.m. throug
 h the reception ending at 5:30 p.m.\; UM faculty\, researchers\, students\
, and Collaborative Data Science awardees are also invited to submit poste
rs or demonstrations.\nWhy it stands out\nIDSC Day is designed to put tech
nical research into conversation with medicine\, science\, immersive media
\, AI\, education\, and industry rather than treating digital twins as a n
arrowly engineering-focused subject. That interdisciplinary framing is rei
 nforced by a panel featuring Jacqueline LeMoigne\, Azizi A. Seixas\, and K
im Grinfeder\, whose backgrounds span computer vision and Earth science te
 chnology\, health informatics\, and immersive media.\nAttendance\nThe even
t is free and open to the public at the Frost Institute for Chemistry and
Molecular Science\, 1201 Memorial Drive in Coral Gables. Registration incl
udes complimentary parking\, lunch\, and the networking reception\, accord
ing to the current event information.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\
