SUMMARY:Nā King Kamehameha Commemorative Pāʻū Parade – Maui
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNā King Kamehameha
Commemorative Pāʻū Parade 2027\nThe Nā King Kamehameha Commemorative
Pāʻū Parade is Maui’s annual Hawaiian cultural procession honoring Ki
ng Kamehameha I and his lineage\, centered on the distinctive tradition of
pāʻū riders on horseback. The 2027 celebration is scheduled for Saturd
 ay\, June 19\, 2027\, at 9:45 a.m. in Kahului\, with an accompanying hoʻo
lauleʻa at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center.\nWhat to expect\nThe defining specta
cle is the pāʻū equestrian tradition: riders appear in elaborate tradit
ional attire and floral adornments\, with mounted representatives associat
ed with Hawaiʻi’s islands. Recent Maui parades have combined these ride
rs with hula hālau\, community organizations\, marching groups\, decorate
d vehicles\, and floats\, making the procession both ceremonial and commun
ity-oriented.\n2027 date and route\nThe State of Hawaiʻi’s King Kameham
eha Celebration Commission currently lists the parade for June 19 at 9:45
a.m.\, traveling from Baldwin High School to Queen Kaʻahumanu Center in K
ahului. The commission notes that 2027 event dates\, times\, and locations
remain subject to change\, so the published route should be treated as th
e current plan rather than an immutable schedule.\nCultural significance\n
The event is fundamentally a commemoration of Kamehameha I\, with pāʻū
riding serving as a living expression of Hawaiian history\, horsemanship\,
dress\, lei and floral artistry\, and island identity. Organizers describ
 e the riders as living storytellers who help perpetuate Hawaiian culture\;
the broader celebration also reflects Maui’s connection to the Hawaiian
Kingdom and to Lahaina\, where Kamehameha’s royal lineage has deep hist
orical associations.\nHoʻolauleʻa\nThe parade is paired with the Nā Kin
g Kamehameha Commemorative Hoʻolauleʻa at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center\, cur
rently listed as beginning at 9:00 a.m. on June 19. Recent editions have e
xtended the celebration beyond the procession with hula\, live Hawaiian mu
 sic\, cultural demonstrations\, educational exhibits\, artisans\, and fami
ly activities\, turning the occasion into a broader day of Hawaiian cultur
 al celebration.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
