SUMMARY:Wisconsin State Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Wisconsin State Fair is an annual 11-day festival celebrati
 ng Wisconsin agriculture\, food\, entertainment\, competitions\, and famil
y traditions at State Fair Park in West Allis. Dating to 1851\, it is one
of the state’s longest-running major events and has drawn more than one
million visitors in recent years.\nWhat makes it distinctive\nThe fair com
bines a traditional agricultural exposition with a large modern entertainm
ent festival. Thousands of animals and exhibitors\, agricultural demonstra
tions\, horticultural and culinary competitions\, dozens of entertainment
stages\, shopping\, and amusement rides share the nearly 200-acre State Fa
ir Park.\nSignature experiences\nFood is a major part of the identity\, pa
rticularly Wisconsin cheese and dairy. The Original Cream Puff has been so
ld at the fair since 1924\, with nearly 400\,000 typically consumed annual
ly\; other staples include cheese curds and an ever-changing collection of
unconventional fair foods. SpinCity adds more than 50 rides and 30 games\
, alongside landmarks such as the Giant Slide and SkyGlider.\nAgriculture
at its core\nDespite the concerts and midway atmosphere\, agriculture rema
ins central. Ag Village hosts hundreds of shows and exhibits featuring tho
usands of animals and their exhibitors\, while educational programs cover
farming\, renewable energy\, and activities such as milking demonstrations
. Grand Champion Hall showcases horticulture\, crafts\, textiles\, and cul
inary competitions.\nA long Wisconsin tradition\nThe inaugural fair took p
lace in Janesville in 1851 and subsequently moved among Wisconsin cities b
efore establishing its permanent West Allis home in 1892. Its history has
mirrored broader changes in American life—from farm machinery and early
aviation demonstrations to wartime programs\, popular music\, and modern f
 ood trends.
