International Workshop 2027
International Workshop 2027 (IW 2027) is the annual professional working event of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), scheduled for January 30–February 2, 2027, at the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach in Torrance, California. Its defining feature is active collaboration: participants work together on systems-engineering initiatives rather than primarily attending conventional conference presentations.
A workshop rather than a presentation conference
IW 2027 is deliberately different from INCOSE’s International Symposium. There are no traditional paper, panel, or tutorial presentations; instead, systems engineers participate in working sessions intended to produce outcomes, advance initiatives, and move the discipline forward. Sessions are designed to involve multiple working groups, practitioner backgrounds, and competency levels.

INCOSE describes the event as its annual gathering for “doing the work together,” bringing people from industry, government, and academia into direct collaboration; previews already announced for IW 2027 include sessions concerning SysML v2 and model-based systems engineering.

The event also has an organizational role within INCOSE: officers elected in the organization’s 2026 Board election are scheduled to be formally installed at IW 2027.
