The 16th Annual Black Ice Pond Hockey Championships & Winter Festival is a popular outdoor winter sporting event held at White Park in Concord, New Hampshire. Organised by the 1883 Black Ice Pond Hockey Association, the event celebrates traditional pond hockey while bringing together players, families, spectators and the local community.
The tournament features multiple divisions, with more than 60 teams and approximately 420 players participating in competitive outdoor hockey games across several ice rinks. The event welcomes adult players of different ages and skill levels and also includes youth hockey activities.
The four-day celebration begins with Youth Hockey Night on January 21, followed by the main pond hockey championships from January 22 through January 24.
Visitors can enjoy youth hockey matches, public ice skating, family interactive games, food concessions, merchandise stalls, ice sculptures, bonfires and a fireworks display. A heated spectator tent provides a comfortable viewing and gathering space for families and visitors.
The festival also includes the Shinny Classic, featuring youth hockey teams from New Hampshire. Beyond the sporting competition, the event supports local recreational facilities and promotes outdoor winter activities and community participation.
The Black Ice Pond Hockey Championships provide an opportunity to experience New Hampshire’s winter sports culture while celebrating hockey history, teamwork and community spirit.
