The Annual National Shrimp Festival is one of Alabama’s most popular coastal celebrations, bringing together food lovers, music enthusiasts, artists, families and visitors for a four-day festival on the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores.
Established in 1971, the festival celebrates the seafood heritage and coastal culture of Alabama’s Gulf Coast. Fresh Gulf shrimp takes centre stage, with food vendors serving shrimp prepared in a variety of styles, alongside crab cakes, seafood platters, fish tacos, burgers, desserts and other local favourites.
Beyond the food, visitors can explore numerous arts and crafts booths, browse fine art and handmade creations, and enjoy more than 100 hours of live musical entertainment across two stages. Performances feature a variety of genres, including country, blues, jazz, classic rock and Motown.
The festival also offers family-friendly attractions, a Children’s Activity Village, arts and craft activities, and opportunities to enjoy the beachside atmosphere. Additional activities include the Shrimp Festival 5K and 10K races.
With its combination of seafood, music, art and community activities, the National Shrimp Festival offers an enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages while showcasing the traditions and hospitality of coastal Alabama.
