Delaware Renewable Energy Taskforce Meeting
The Delaware Renewable Energy Taskforce Meeting is a public Delaware government meeting focused on policies and market structures that support renewable-energy development in the state. The taskforce operates under Delaware’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards framework and makes recommendations to state regulators and energy authorities.
What the taskforce does
The taskforce examines renewable-energy credit (REC) and solar REC markets, renewable-energy deployment, compliance costs, investment certainty, in-state generation, and the financial viability of solar projects. Its statutory role also includes evaluating certain offshore-wind contract solicitations and providing recommendations to the State Energy Office.
What happens at meetings
Agendas vary, but meetings can involve consequential details of Delaware’s energy policy rather than broad environmental discussion. For example, a March 2026 agenda covered Delmarva Power’s community-solar backlog, Senate Bill 210, the 2026 SREC auction, and Community Energy Facilities, along with public comment; a September 2025 meeting also addressed a solar-market-potential study.
Who participates
Membership brings together government, utilities, renewable-energy interests, and consumer and environmental representatives. Current membership listed by DNREC includes representatives from the Public Service Commission, Delmarva Power, Delaware Electric Cooperative, municipal electric companies, Sustainable Energy Utility, Division of the Public Advocate, Delaware Solar Energy Coalition, and environmental advocacy organizations; DNREC’s Tom Noyes is listed as chair.
Public participation
Meetings are publicly noticed through DNREC’s calendar and Delaware’s Public Meeting Calendar, and recent sessions have generally provided virtual participation, sometimes alongside an in-person location in Dover. Public comment is also a recurring agenda item, making these meetings one of the formal venues where Delaware residents and energy stakeholders can follow and comment on renewable-energy implementation.
