Dover Days is a community festival celebrating Delaware’s history, culture and heritage in the state capital. It brings together residents, visitors, local businesses, historical organisations and community groups for a weekend of activities.
The Friday evening kickoff includes food trucks, historical walking tours and a fireworks display at dusk. Visitors can sample food from local vendors while exploring Dover’s historic downtown.
Saturday’s programme features the Dover Days Parade, which highlights the state’s history and community identity. Local organisations, businesses, schools and emergency services participate, often with historical costumes, decorated vehicles and themed displays.
Other activities include traditional Maypole dancing and historical reenactments. Volunteers portray historical figures and explain important events connected with Dover, Kent County and Delaware. The event provides a family-friendly way to learn about the state’s history while enjoying community entertainment.
