Michigan Renaissance Festival 2027
The Michigan Renaissance Festival is an annual medieval- and Renaissance-themed festival held in the permanent HollyGrove village in Holly, Michigan, featuring costumed characters, jousting, stage entertainment, artisan shops, food, games, and themed weekends. The 2027 season is scheduled for late August through early October.
2027 dates and setting
The festival’s official site currently lists weekends from August 21 through October 3, 2027, plus Labor Day, September 6, and Festival Friday, October 1. Hours are 9 a.m.–7 p.m., rain or shine, at 12600 Dixie Highway, Holly, MI 48442; the FAQ describes HollyGrove as a reconstructed 16th-century village with more than 80 artisan shops.
What happens there
Live entertainment is central to the experience: jousting is scheduled three times daily at 1, 3, and 5 p.m. and is included with admission, alongside costumed characters and stage performances. General admission covers the stage shows, while food, beverages, shopping, rides, games, and premium experiences can involve additional charges.
Themed weekends
Seven themes are currently identified for 2027: Pirates & Pups, Highland Games, Viking Invasion, Wonders of the World, Shamrocks & Shenanigans, Harvest Huzzah, and Sweet Endings. Detailed daily programs are released close to each weekend, so specific performers and showtimes remain subject to change.
New for 2027
The festival has announced several additions, including Heiðrún’s Hall, a Viking-inspired mead-tasting space replacing Crystal Palace; a hands-on Wizard Wand Workshop; and Race for the Crown, offering a 5K and one-mile Medieval Mile through the festival grounds. Free celebration ribbons are also planned for occasions such as birthdays and first visits.
Premium experiences
Beyond regular admission, the festival traditionally offers separately ticketed experiences such as Brunch at the Joust, organized Pub Crawls, and the multi-course Feast of Fantasy.
