National History Day: Nebraska State Contest is an annual academic competition that brings together middle-school and high-school students from across Nebraska to showcase their historical research and creative projects.
The 2027 state contest provides students with an opportunity to present their research on historical topics connected to the annual National History Day theme. Participants develop projects through extensive research, critical thinking and creative interpretation.
Students can compete in different formats, including historical exhibits, documentaries, performances, websites and research papers. Projects are evaluated by judges based on historical understanding, research quality, presentation and originality.
The event encourages students to explore important historical events, individuals, ideas and developments while strengthening their communication, analytical and presentation skills.
Top-performing students at the state level may qualify to represent Nebraska at the National History Day National Contest.
The 2027 Nebraska State Contest is scheduled for April 17 at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.
