The Together for Indigenous Families Conference is an annual gathering organised by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. It aims to strengthen relationships between state and tribal systems and improve safety and well-being outcomes for Native American children and families.
The 2027 conference theme is “Nurturing Our Roots: Strengthening Our Families, Growing Our Future.” It celebrates the importance of tribal culture, family connections, community relationships and the protection of Indigenous children.
The conference brings together tribal representatives, child welfare professionals, government agencies, family service providers, educators and community stakeholders.
The programme includes keynote presentations, educational breakout sessions, professional discussions and networking opportunities. Topics include Indigenous children’s mental and behavioural health, family-centred prevention services, child welfare, foster care, adoption practices, tribal sovereignty, judicial and legal affairs, and youth and family engagement.
Participants can also connect with professionals from tribal and state organisations, share experiences and explore ways to strengthen services for Indigenous families.
A networking dinner is scheduled for the evening of June 2. Breakfast and lunch are provided during the conference days. Continuing education credits, including CLE, CME and CEU, are being pursued for eligible sessions.
