Webinar: Indoor Air Quality in Homes

Webinar: Indoor Air Quality in Homes is a two-hour online training from the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO) focused on code enforcement’s role in protecting resident health. Scheduled for January 12, 2027, it connects common housing conditions with indoor-air health risks and the California codes and enforcement practices available to address them.

What the training covers

The course addresses pest infestations, dampness and mold, lead hazards, and other conditions that can create unhealthy indoor environments. Participants are taught how to recognize potential problems, identify applicable state codes, ensure repairs adequately resolve hazards, and protect themselves from exposure while conducting enforcement work.

A notable component is an overview of AB 548, legislation signed in 2023 aimed at helping code enforcement identify severe, building-wide health hazards in multifamily housing. This makes the webinar more specifically oriented toward California enforcement practice than a general consumer course on ventilation or indoor pollutants.

Presenters

The announced faculty combines public-health and code-enforcement experience. Presenters include Brandon Kitagawa of Regional Asthma Management and Prevention; Anya Cross-James and John Beckman of the California Department of Public Health; and retired enforcement/healthy-homes officials Larry Brooks and Leonard Powell.

Schedule, credit, and registration

The webinar runs Tuesday, January 12, 2027, from 10:00 a.m. to noon and awards 2 CEU credits. CACEO lists fees of $60 early-bird/$65 regular for members and $120 early-bird/$125 regular for nonmembers; the early-bird cutoff is December 27, 2026, and online registration is listed through January 10, 2027. Registrants receive a Zoom link and must complete Zoom registration before the webinar.
